A committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and scientific Research in Iraq visited the University of Duhok on 12 December 2021 and was received by Dr. Atrushi, the President of the University of Duhok.

Talking about the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Salih, Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, indicated that, “the committee comprised five individuals from the Diwan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. A significant responsibility of this committee is to track the different colleges and departments of the University as well as the UoD academic staff and programs.”

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Salih stated that the committee aims to identify the newly established scientific departments in the UoD and include them in the official list of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This process will be helpful for students requesting the equalization of their certificates in the Iraqi Consulates abroad as the consulates require the confirmation of the departments’ inclusion in the official list of the Ministry.

It is important to mention that the Ministry had a list in 2014 that included all the departments of the UoD and recently, an assigned delegation from the UoD has been updating this list by adding the newly established departments to the list of certified universities of Iraq.
