  • Material Taught:

    1 - Architectural Studio “Chief of the Studio”:

    1.1 BSc 1st stage:

    Introducing the basics of the architectural design linking it to Art and Sculpting in terms of how to thinking of the design as a unified composition and as a harmonic language.

    1.2 BSc 3rd stage:

    Introducing architecture as a:

    • Language of design of different public and service spaces;
    • More complicated system of more functional and structural design;
    • System of vertical expansion that includes new criteria of structure as well as new standards of construction and functional limitations.

    1.3 BSc 4th stage:

    • Urban-Residential Housing (Urban Design): introducing the students to, and developing together, ideas on the quality of urban spaces for residential areas, as well as other criteria related to urban-residential projects
    • Large-Span Buildings: how to employ different functional zones, of different small, medium and large spans, in an individual structure/building taking into consideration some essential themes, such as: the quality of the indoor spaces, the functional capacity, and environmental and visual performance of the relationship between the indoor and outdoor spaces, and etc.

    1.4 BSc 5th stage:

    • Collecting and presenting data for the Graduation Project.
    • Working on, and developing, the design concept until the final stage of full detailed design of full requirements of site plan, plans, elevations, sections, interior and exterior perspectives and details of the used structure (with optional 3D model).

    2- Freehand Studio: BSc 1st & 2nd stages “Chief of the Studio”:

    • Building a sense about the environmental themes that are interrelated with, and integral to the theme of architecture;
    • Considering the proportion between the elements of the architectural theme as well as the proper technique of expressing them through a free-hand sketch.

    3- Principles in Art & Architecture, BSc 1st stage “Chief of the Material”:

    • Introducing some mutual principles between art and architecture, as a formative language and analytical language, on both theoretical and pragmatic levels

    4- Design Strategies, BSc 3rd stage “Chief of the Material”:

    • Introducing some strategies to deal with architectural design, as problems and solutions, and on both architectural and urban contexts

    5- Islamic Architecture, BSc 4th stage “Chief of the Material”:

    • Reviewing the impact of the Islam, as a body of legislations and principles, on the built environment as an individual mass or urban context

    6- Urban Design ‘Studio’, BSc 4th stage “Chief of the Material”:

    • Introducing the concept of design from a wider urban scale recognising the urban environment as a systematic interrelatedness of different structures that comprise the social, commercial, recreational, residential urban uses, and public services and infrastructures

    7- Urban Regeneration ‘Studio’, BSc 5th stage “Chief of the Studio”:

    • Acknowledging the histo-cultural significance of ancient built heritage, as a body of traditions and norms, conserving its entity through different techniques of urban regeneration, restoration, renovation, revitalisation, renewal and infill processes.

    8- Architectural Criticism Theories, BSc 5th stage “Chief of the Studio”:

    • Introducing the philosophical trends through which architecture has recently been defined, interpreted and critiqued through the philosophical midst.
